My name is Iza, and I have been living in vibrant Rotterdam since 2021. From a young age, I spent a lot of time in my head. Overthinking, planning, making endless lists of things I didn’t want to forget - my mind was always busy. My perfectionism often kept me stuck replaying mistakes or conversations, focusing on how I should have done things differently. As a result, I was often living in the past or the future, but rarely in the present moment.
This constant pressure also showed up physically, with symptoms like stomach aches and shallow breathing. The feeling that I always had to be switched “on” made it difficult to truly relax. At times, I even felt like I had to gasp for air because it seemed impossible to breathe deeply. These physical reactions created even more stress, keeping the cycle going.
When I discovered breathwork, I started with simple breathing exercises a few times a day. At first, I was looking for immediate results - but sometimes it takes a bit of patience ;) Still, I kept going and quickly noticed how effective it was in calming my mind. Later, I discovered the power of one-on-one breathwork sessions with a breathwork coach. Receiving a session felt like a warm bath. For someone like me, who finds it difficult to talk about feelings, breathwork became a gentle and powerful way to feel and release emotions.
Around the same time, I came across training in systemic coaching. This helped me look beyond thoughts and behaviour. I began to understand how our place within the family system, old patterns, and unconscious loyalties shape how we feel and respond. For the first time, I gained clarity on themes I had been stuck in for years without fully understanding why. The combination of breathwork, bodywork, and a systemic perspective gave me the deeper layer I had been missing.
Thanks to breathwork and systemic coaching, I now feel much more space in my body. Instead of overthinking everything, I am able to feel, set boundaries, and make conscious choices. This brings a sense of calm, clarity, and freedom.
